Andrea Young is a versatile Solicitor-Advocate with expertise in non-contentious commercial contracts, as well as financial market data policy, licensing, and compliance.


Her dedication to the legal profession began with a BA (Hons) in Jurisprudence from St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford, followed by the Bar Professional Training Course at City Law School, London. Andrea started her career in Bermuda, playing a key role in establishing and expanding the former Attorney-General of Bermuda’s private practice law firm. It was during this time that she also qualified as an attorney in New York. She then founded a professional services consultancy delivering tailored legal and compliance solutions, primarily to professional services firms.


Andrea later returned to London and qualified as a solicitor in 2021, subsequently focusing her practice on market data licensing, governance, and compliance – a focus that has since defined her legal career.

Andrea is a lawyer with deep industry insight into market data, drawing on five years of hands-on experience working alongside business and data analysts. This background has honed her strong risk analysis skills, enabling her to effectively support clients in managing complex risk challenges.


Throughout her career, Andrea has actively engaged with the market data community, regularly participating in events hosted by the Financial Information Services Division (FISD) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).

Andrea brings extensive experience advising a diverse client base, including stock exchanges, major international data vendors, and leading financial institutions such as global investment and retail banks, asset managers, and hedge fund managers. Her expertise spans a broad range of commercial and market data matters, including market data policy and licensing for exchanges and vendors, framework and master service agreements, distribution agreements, as well as non-display and derived data licensing.


Andrea provides critical legal support to clients on contractual and compliance issues, particularly in relation to market data vendor audits.


Notably, Andrea recently advised a prominent stock exchange on revising its data policies and licensing structures to enhance competitiveness within the financial data market. She led redrafting of their market data policies and licensing agreements to align them with current market demands.


She also spent a year advising a major US custodian bank and major institutional investment manager on market data licensing, focusing on compliance, risk assessment, and remediation strategies.


Additionally, Andrea orchestrated licensing arrangements for a leading data vendor who was seeking to create indices, successfully securing agreements with over 25 stock exchanges worldwide.

Andrea has a passionate interest in history, often traveling to explore historical sites around the world, including the ancient Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum.


She is also an enthusiastic amateur wine connoisseur who enjoys visiting vineyards throughout Europe.

Andrea earned a BA (Hons) in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford and completed the Bar Professional Training Course at the City Law School.


She was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn and completed an LL.M in Professional Legal Skills alongside passing the New York Bar Examination within the same year.


In 2021, Andrea qualified as a solicitor through the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS). She holds Higher Rights of Audience in both civil and criminal courts and has recently been granted an exemption from pupillage.
